The Lions went on the road Wednesday night to take on the Rams of Bluefield College. Bryan was just half a game out of first place going into the game. Unfortunately, the Lions fell in a close battle 52-50.
The Lions 2-point deficit came in the first half as they went into the locker room down at halftime 32-30. In the second half, the teams were even in scoring with 20 points apiece. The Lions had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to tie or win, but a 3-point attempt went just long.
The Lions played without starting point guard Demond Craig and starting forward Keith Bauer, who sat out the game due to injury.
The Lions were led by the three remaining regular starters. Xavierian McCall had 18 points while tallying 7 rebounds. Astral Guerrier finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Scott Newton added 10 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lions are now 17-9 overall and 10-5 in the AAC. They play again on Saturday night at home against UVA-Wise in the final game of the regular season, and it will be senior night. UVA-Wise currently has a one-game lead for first place. If the Lions win, they will then share the Regular Season Champions title. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm ET.
