The Lions hosted the Eagles of Toccoa Falls College in the first game of the annual Bryan College Invitational. The Lions' bats were hot as they opened their invitational with an 11-1 win in five innings.
The Lions scored a run in the bottom of the first. Shane Clawson hit a double, which scored Pablo Rodriguez, who had been walked.
Bryan struck big in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 7 runs. Jordan Day hit a double to score Josh Harris, who had been hit by a pitch, and Joseph Delrosario, who had hit a double. Josh King doubled two batters later to score Jordan Day. Jonathan Davis followed with a double of his own, scoring Ryan Henn, who had reached the bases on a bunt earlier, and Jonathan Davis. Pablo Rodriguez then hit a 2-run homerun, scoring Jonathan Davis and himself.
The Lions gave up a run in the top of the fifth. The player who scored had reached base after striking out, but reached first on a passed ball on strike three. He then stole second and third base, followed by scoring on a passed ball.
The Lions responded with scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jonathan Davis hit a 3-run homerun scoring Ryan Henn, who had hit a double, Josh King, who had singled, and himself to end the game early.
Bryan starting pitcher Adam Polston pitched all five innings, earning the win. He gave up 1 unearned run, 3 hits, and struck out 4 batters.
The Lions are now 5-3 overall. They play again on Friday in their Invitational against Asbury College. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00pm ET.
