Winston-Salem, NC - Three school records and a runner-up finish highlighted the weekend for the Bryan College Track & Field team at the Wake Forest Open. Over 1,500 athletes and 40 universities competed at Kentner Stadium during the two-day event.

Redshirt Freshman Alyssia Lindsay (Spring City, TN), a former Rhea County standout, set school records in the women's 1,500- and 800-meter runs. Friday afternoon saw Lindsay hit a personal best of 2:27.70 in the 800-meter. More impressively was her 1,500-meter run the following day when she took 6th in section five at 5:02.33. "Alyssia has come a long way in a short time and has a bright future," stated Head Coach Rodney Stoker.

Senior Josh Bradley (Ringgold, GA) took second, out of 120, in the men's 800-meter run with a season best of 1:51.89, as he was edged by University of Penn's Darryll Oliver's 1:51.77. Bradley's mark qualifies him for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship at the end of May. "Bradley was a bit disappointed not to win, but that is what he has come to expect," added Stoker.

Also hitting a qualifying standard for the championship was Junior Zach Buffington (Ooltewah, TN). Buffington lowered the 10,000 meter school record in route to his 15th-place finish of 32:02.90.

Saturday afternoon, Bradley led teammate Bryson Harper (SO - Pikeville, TN) in the second section of the men's 1,500-meter run. Bradley's 3:59.35 placed him at 3rd, while Harper finished in 402.98 to finish 8th. Freshman Jason McLeod (Ocoee, FL) won the fourth section at the same distance as he crossed the line in a personal best of 4:03.64. McLeod competed the previous evening in the men's 5,000-meter, setting a lifetime best of 15:42.26.

"To sum it up, it was a great weekend for our athletes. Buffington's 10k record was impressive and his fitness and confidence are at an all-time high. Jason continues to improve and set the tone for our freshmen athletes," finished Stoker.
