The Lions hosted the Virginia Intermont College Cobras this weekend for a conference 3-game series. The Lions won the Friday night game and the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday to win the series.
  
The Lions defeated the Cobras 10-8 on Friday night. Pablo Rodriguez went 3 for 4 from the plate, with one run batted and scored twice. Josh King also had three hits, including a homerun for an RBI and scoring twice. Zach Bowe and Steven Brown each had two RBIs apiece. Brown's came off of a 2-run homerun he hit in the 2nd inning. Tyson Latham started on the mound for the Lions. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits and earned the win. Daniel Zimmerman came in at 2 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 2 hits and striking out 3 batters. Josh Smith came in to get the last out, striking out the one batter he faced to end the game.

In game one of the doubleheader on Saturday, the Lions fell to the Cobras 6-3. Jonathan Brown and Jonathan Davis each had two hits apiece. Kevin Layne, Jonathan Davis, and Shane Clawson had one run batted in. Ryan Henn went 1-for-1 from the plate and scored two of the three runs. Zack Breault started on the mound for the Lions. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and received the loss. Kemonte Keessee came in to pitch for the last out in the top of the 7th inning.

The Lions won 11-1 in 5 innings in the second game of the doubleheader. Shane Clawson went 3-for-3 from the plate including a solo homerun in the 3rd inning. Pablo Rodriguez went 2 for 3 from the plate, including a 3-run homerun in the 4th inning. Josh King went 2-for-3 from the plate with a solo homerun in the 2nd inning. Steven Brown also went 2-for-3 for the game. Joseph Delrosario hit a 3-run homerun in the first inning. Adam Polston started on the mound and pitched all five innings. He gave up only 1 of 3 hits, earning the win.

The Lions are now 15-23 overall and 7-8 in the AAC. They play again on Tuesday at home against Tennessee Temple University. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00pm ET.
