Chattanooga, TN - Bryan College track and field had an opportunity to run close to home on Friday, April 30. The Lions took the top spots in all six races contested on the men's side when they lined up for a dual meet with Lee University at the McCallie School. McCallie hosted the annual Mid South Classic for high school teams throughout the day on Friday, and added a college division that evening for the first time in its history.

Josh Bradley (Sr - Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe High, GA) led a sweep of the top three spots in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:50.80. Alex Stephens (Fr - Cleveland High, TN) and Colby Smith (Jr - Rhea County High, TN) were 2nd and 3rd crossing the line at 1:57.70 and 1:58.47 respectively.

Alyssia Lindsay (Fr - Rhea County High, TN) lowered her 800-meter school record with a 2nd place finish of 2:23.07. She was also 2nd in the 1500-meter run in 5:06.77. Teammate Ericka Simpson (So - Grayson High, GA) was 2nd in the 5k in a new school record of 19:35.57.

Bryson Harper (So - Sequatchie County High, TN) and Jason McLeod (Fr - Circle Christian High, FL) claimed the top two spots in the men's 1500-meter run, and in the process hit the "B" standard for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in late May. Harper edged a late-charging McLeod by (.05), as they were 3:57.27 and 3:57.32 respectively. Drew Thompson (Fr - Oakland High, TN) lowered his career best with a 4th place finish of 4:04.49 in the same race. Stephens doubled back from the 800-meter run to take 5th in 4:10.49, and was followed by freshman classmate Jake Bradley (Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe High, GA) in 7th at 4:16.84, both being lifetime bests.

Josh Ball (Fr - Tellico Plains High, TN) won the men's 200- and 400-meter dashes, with a personal best of 22.70 in the shorter race.

"McCallie is a great venue and our athletes did a super job of being aggressive after a long day of helping out with the high school meet. We had a nice fan support from parents, friends and fellow Bryan students to cheer for our kids. Things are starting to click for everyone on the team, and we look forward to giving them more opportunities to compete this month," stated Head Coach Rodney Stoker.

The Lions will travel to Knoxville this Saturday, May 8, to compete in the Tennessee Invitational. The races begin at 12:30PM on Tom Black Track, as Tennessee prepares to host the SEC Track & Field Championships the following week.
