Ryan Henn scored another run for the Lions in the 3rd after a walk and two stolen bases. Zack Breault started the game for the Lions on the mound and pitched well, allowing just two runs in 7 innings of work with 7 strikeouts to 3 walks.
The Bulldogs threatened in the final three innings, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 7th, one in the 8th and got the first two leadoff hitters on in the 9th. A big double play for the Lions in the bottom of the 9th inning set the table for Josh Smith who finished the Bulldogs off and received the save (7) for his effort.
The Lions will face the Rams of Bluefield College on Monday night at 7:30 PM in the second round of the AAC Tournament.
