Summer Camp

2009 Volleyball Camp

June 14-17, 2009

The Residential Camp was a tremendous success! The camp, specifically designed for Christian and Homeschool teams, attracted 9 teams with over 80 players in attendance. Coach Sayles, assisted by Montreat head coach Christy Mooberry, Bethel Asst. Coach Leah White (Bryan '08), and Bryan Asst. Johnny Miller, taught basic skills and offensive/defensive tactics to the campers. The rest of the camp staff was comprised of Bryan players.

Practice sessions were intense, and competition was fierce each night and on the final day of play. Worship and Bible-study sessions were enriching. Bryan senior Andrew Slikker led worship, and Coach Sayles gave the message each night. The teams also took part in team-building sessions each day. One coach commented, "It brought joy to my heart to see them (her players) laughing and having a good time together. And they couldn't stop talking about how much they were learning and how well they were playing together as a team... it was great! I didn't hear 1 negative thing about camp from my players or my team mom that was there. She said you really put on a great camp! Thank you!!!!"

July 6-9, 2009
Team Camp at Satellite Locations
Camp Host sites are Bradley Central HS and Soddy Daisy HS. A total of 7 courts are available for team camp. If we need more, we will be able to add another local gym to accomodate more teams. AM sessions - each program will have their own court to divide among their varsity and JV teams. Camp staff will work with coaches to strengthen areas of weakness within their program. Each day, a different team component will be addressed. PM sessions - varsity teams will be combined on courts, and JV teams will be separated to different courts. Teams will work on cooperative and competitive drills to add a competitive component to the training sessions. July 9, all teams will play in a play-day at a specific site, based on their skill levels.
We have room for a few more teams!
Individuals are welcome to sign up, and will be assigned to a team.

For the past three years, Bryan College finished the season as the #2 team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, has been ranked in the Top 10 in the National Christian Colleges Athletic Association, and has led their region or conference in every offensive category. This past season, the Lions were ranked #15 in team blocks throughout the NAIA. Come learn how to elevate your program's output, and help your team develop the dedication and discipline that will make your team into a Champion of Character!

The 2008 camps were a tremendous success. Over 240 players attended Bryan-affiliated camps, while Coach Sayles and several playes also assisted at Belmont University volleyball camps. The Bryan individual and team camps covered basic individual technique, with breakouts on hitting, digging, and setting. Basic team offensive and defensive concepts were taught as well to the group. Advanced training was given as an evening option for varsity-level players. Players attended from over 10 high schools in Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina, while players from three high schools and two middle schools in Illinois attended Coach Sayles' satellite camp in East Moline. Players, parents, and coaches alike were very enthusiastic and appreciative for the work the camp staff put in.

Camps instruction will be provided by Leo Sayles, Bryan College head volleyball coach, assisted by Bryan College coaching staff, current and former Bryan College volleyball players, and other local college coaches.
