John Miller - Assistant Coach - 2nd Season
Johnny Miller enters his second season as the assistant coach for the women's volleyball program at Bryan College. A 2008 graduate of Bryan College, Miller brings experience both as a student assistant coach and a summer camp clinician to the staff of the women's volleyball program. Coach Miller began his volleyball career as the team manager his freshman year at Bryan and was quickly elevated to student assistant coach after one season. "I never got the opportunity to play on an organized men's team growing up," said Miller, "so being able to be involved right away as a freshman was huge for me." Coach Miller eagerly accepted the responsibilities of being a student assistant coach and really strived to become a student of the game. "I'll never forget when Coach Sayles sat me down and told me that he could see me as a head college coach one day if I really wanted it," commented Miller. He embraced that vision and began his volleyball career by accepting the assistant coach position at Bryan in the spring of 2008.
Coach Miller also heads up Bryan's Junior Varsity Squad. Last year the team posted a season best 10-1 record while only dropping three sets. "To have that kind of record my first season is unprecedented, and I am very humbled to have been part of such a great team," said Miller. The Lady Lions have had a remarkable turnaround in the last five seasons, becoming a top conference contender each of the last three seasons. Coach Miller looks forward to another season at Bryan, to not only vie for the conference title, but also to grow as a team and strive to push one another to levels they never thought were possible.
