[Men's Basketball] Basketball Adds Another From Stone Memorial

The Bryan College men's basketball team is pleased to announce the signing of Rob Troino. He played high school ball at Stone Memorial High School with recent Bryan basketball signee, Brandon Cole. Troino averaged 12.8 points per game, 3.2 assists per game, and 4.6 rebounds per game this past season as he and Cole led their team all the way to the state semifinal game. Troino was named to the All-State Team, the All-Tournament Team for the region tournament, the All-Tournament Team for the district tournament, and the All-District Team for the regular season.

[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Announces Their Schedule for the Upcoming Season

The men's soccer team has released the schedule for the upcoming 2012 season. This year's schedule is arguably the most challenging schedule in the program's history. The Lions have added some new teams to their nonconference competition over the past couple years to increase the strength of their schedule. Three of the teams that Bryan will face finished last season ranked in the top six in the nation, including the reigning NAIA national champion.

The women's soccer team recently released their 2012 schedule. The Lady Lions will play two matches before school starts on August 29. Their first opponent will be the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Ky. This will be the first time that the two schools will meet. The Lady Lion's home opener will be August 28 against Cumberland University.

The Bryan College men's basketball program is proud to announce the signing of Brandon Cole. He is a 6'2, 230 lb. forward who played high school basketball at Stone Memorial High School. Cole averaged 26 points and 11 rebounds per game in his senior season and led his team, who was ranked #1 in the state for most of the year, all the way to the state tournament semi-finals. He received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, but his senior year included honors such as: Mr. Basketball Finalist, All-State Team, Knox News Sentinel Player of the Year, MVP of the Region Tournament, MVP of the District Tournament, and regular season MVP of the District.

The Bryan College Cheer Squad is pleased to announce the signing of Adriana Perez, Cori Burke, and Robert Raines. All three signees are from Jamestown, Tenn., and attended high school at (Alvin C.) York Institute. Perez and Burke will be transferring in as juniors from Roane State Community College, while Raines will be entering his freshman year.

The Bryan College volleyball team is pleased to announce the signing of Mallory Morrison. She is about to graduate from Lancaster Christina Academy, where she was a four-year starter for their volleyball team. Morrison was named Captain her senior season. As a sophomore, she was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year and the school's Female Athlete of the Year. Morrison is also a member of the RC Juniors Club Volleyball team which recently received a bid to Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

Current Athletic Director and former head men's soccer coach Dr. Sandy Zensen and current men's head soccer coach Joey Johnson have been selected to be guest clinicians and speakers for a coaches' clinic organized by FCA Soccer Ministries in Atlanta, Ga., called Coaching The Whole Athlete. The clinic is being run by the Metro Atlanta Director of FCA Soccer Ministries, Jorge Vallejo, who played soccer at Bryan for Coach Zensen.

[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Wins "Forza" Tourney, Completing Undefeated Spring Season

After a convincing win over Lee University on the road, the Lions traveled to Tennessee Wesleyan College to compete in the Justin Lucas "Forza" Six-A-Side Tournament held each year in remembrance of former Tennessee Wesleyan player, Justin Lucas. With some quality collegiate programs traveling in from several states, it proved to be a great day of competition. As the tournament came to a close, Bryan earned the championship by defeating host team Tennessee Wesleyan 4-2 in the final. Bryan finished with an undefeated record of 7 wins and 0 losses on the day.

Kingsport, Tenn. - For the second time in the AAC Tournament, the #2 ranked Bryan College baseball team competed against #3 Union College on Thursday evening. The Lions scored one run in the first inning and one in the second to get on the scoreboard first. The Bulldogs took one run back in the third. Bryan scored their final run in the fourth inning. Union scored a run in the fifth, tied the game with a run in the sixth inning, and scored a run in the eighth to take the lead. The Lions were unable to score a run in the eighth or ninth inning to extend the game, losing by a final score of 4-3.

Kingsport, Tenn. - The #2 Bryan College baseball team competed against #6 Montreat College on Thursday morning in the AAC Tournament. The Lions jumped out to a good start by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Bryan added one run in the third inning and another in the fourth. Tyler Latham hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to add to the lead. The Lions added one more in the sixth inning to go ahead 6-0 before giving up two runs in the bottom of the inning. Bryan scored their final run in the eighth inning. Montreat scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but the Lions were able to hold them off to win by a final score of 7-4.

Kingsport, Tenn. - The #2 Bryan College baseball team competed against #3 Union College on Wednesday in the AAC Tournament. The Lions gave up three runs in the third and eight runs in the fifth inning to fall behind 11-0. The Bryan offense got on the board in the ninth as they scored three runs, including a two-run home run by Kevin Layne, but it was too little too late.

The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the baseball regular season awards. Bryan Head Coach Taylor Hasty was named the AAC Coach of the Year. Kenny Knudsen was voted the Freshman of the Year. DeWayne Boyd, Tanner Brown, Shane Clawson, and Tyler Latham were all selected to the All-Conference 1st Team. Boyd and Clawson were also named to the Gold Glove Team. Kevin Layne and Adam Sanders were selected to the All-Conference Second Team. Steven Brown, Jordan Day, Josh Harris, Kemonte Keesee, and Andrew Smith made the All-Academic Team.

Kingsport, Tenn. - The #2 Bryan College baseball team competed against #7 Bluefield College on Tuesday in their first game of the AAC Tournament. The Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead by scoring one run in the third inning, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth inning. The Rams refused to just lie down and give up as they scored three runs in the sixth, one in seventh, and one in the ninth. However, Bryan's defense was able to hold them off to win by a final score of 6-5.

Bryan College women's golf signee, Carrilee Lynn Hiers, was recognized for her talents on and off of the golf course in In the Game High School Sports Magazine. The article talks about Hiers' golf game and her success as a student. She uses the opportunity to talk about her relationship with God and how it guides her golf game. At the end of the article it is mentioned that Hiers has signed with Bryan to continue her golf career as well as why she chose Bryan.

The Bryan College men's basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Jeff Long. He is currently a senior at Hendersonville High School. Long scored over 1,000 points in his high school career. In his senior year he averaged 16 points per game, 4 assists per game, and 2 steals per game. He shot 56% from the floor, 30% from beyond the three-point arc, and 80% from the free throw line. Long was named to the All-District 1st Team for the regular season and the All-Tournament Team at the district tournament. He was also named to the All-County Team and was named the Co-Player of the Year.
